The role of VEGF across tumour types

A stable target that is continually expressed

Across a wide range of human tumours and/or cell lines, expression of VEGF has been shown to lead to the development and maintenance of a vascular network that promotes tumour growth and metastasis. Moreover, a large and growing body of evidence indicates that both VEGF gene expression and VEGF production are associated closely with poor prognosis. This section explores the implications of VEGF activity in several major tumour types.
