At the recent Anti-angiogenesis Clinical Experience Exchange Meeting held in Madrid, Spain, the audience were privileged to see Dr Fairooz Kabbinavar present on the topic of “Controlling angiogenesis to control tumour growth”. Through Avastin TV you can now experience the same presentation. Dr Kabbinavar firstly presents an overview of the history of angiogenesis research and the discovery of VEGF and its key role in tumour development. The next section of his talk focuses on the different ways that have since been discovered to target VEGF and thereby prevent or reduce tumour angiogenesis. One of the most successful has been the discovery of Avastin, and Dr Kabbinavar provides an informative summary of the mode of action of this particular drug, which has established efficacy across a number of tumour types.
